5 Tips to Avoid Holiday Stress11/30/2017

If you typically dread the holidays instead of getting so excited you over-decorate the house, then these tips to de-stress during the holidays are for you.

Know your limits. Seemingly every friend and family member has some holiday event or party that they want you to attend. Don’t feel the need to accept every single party invitation and definitely don’t volunteer to host or cook for every event. You’re allowed to pick and choose.

Budget. Make a list and check it twice, and don’t stray while shopping online or in-store. It’s easy to go over-budget when shopping awesome holiday deals, but don’t get tricked into purchasing unnecessary items just because they’re on sale.

Do your banking the easy way. With Sandia Area’s Online & Mobile banking, you don’t have to take the time out of your busy schedule to visit a branch location. Check your account balance, pay bills, and even enjoy remote check deposit, all from your home computer or on the go. Learn more here.

Take some time for yourself. Schedule some time for you to get away from the kids and cousins and in-laws for a little “me time.” Go to the spa, get a massage, go solo to a movie and have all the popcorn to yourself. Take a moment to relax, decompress and collect your thoughts.

Splurge a little. Enjoy that extra cookie. Have another glass of eggnog. Treat yourself to another slice of honeyed ham. Play that Christmas music extra loud. Wear those gaudy sweaters. Do what makes you happy. Save the seriousness for your New Year’s Resolutions!
