Fun Fall Activities That Won't Break the Bank

Hike Under the Aspen Trees in Santa Fe-$

Just north of downtown Santa Fe in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, experience the magic of fall under the golden leaves of the Aspen trees as they begin their transition for winter. Choose from multiple hiking trails to take in the views such as the Aspen Vista trail or the Windsor Trail.

Make a weekend of it and visit Ski Santa Fe, where you can ride the ski lift every Saturday and Sunday during fall from September 18-October 10. There is also live music, restaurants and more to keep you busy.

Visit McCall’s Pumpkin Patch- $$

Located in Moriarty, McCall’s Pumpkin Patch has been in operation for 24 years. Bring the whole family to enjoy the pumpkin patch, corn maze, hay ride, pedal cars, cow train and more! McCall’s also offers a haunted corn maze at night for those who are feeling brave.

Take a Ghost Tour in Old Town Albuquerque- $$

Get in the Halloween spirit by taking a fun and informative ghost tour in Old Town. Starting daily at 8 p.m., see Old Town from a completely different perspective with ghost stories from Civil War battles, murders, hangings, and hidden cemeteries.  

Visit an Apple Orchard-$$

Apple picking is a must-do fall activity for families of any size. Visit Costanza Orchard for a full day of fun picking apples, taking in the sights while walking through the orchards, and feeding horses and donkeys the apples that have fallen. If you don’t enjoy picking your own apples, you can purchase from their pre-picked selection. Make sure to also try their locally grown honey while you’re there.
